Capture the split second in an action video

A jump, kick, or fast movement can be hard to pause at exactly the right point. Review the nearby frames instead of guessing from a video scrubber.

A practical workflow

  1. Start with the original clip. Select a video from your phone. If possible, use a clip recorded in good light with the subject in focus.
  2. Narrow the range. Mark a short section around the peak action, then extract its frames.
  3. Compare nearby moments. Open likely frames fullscreen. Check the subject’s position, sharpness, and background before choosing one.
  4. Save the winner. Save the selected still to your Photos or gallery. You can share it using your phone’s share sheet.
Photo quality depends on the source video. Extraction preserves a moment from your clip; it cannot restore detail that was blurred or absent in the recording.

Ideas to try

Sports practice, dance, skateboarding, pets in motion, and travel clips all contain moments that are easier to compare frame by frame.
